Mr Whirly says:
” 70% Cabernet, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. One of the best Pauillac vineyards. Not tasted but very good provenance.”
First tasted in July 2000 where I find it “a little chunky” and a Grand Puy Lacoste suitable for early drinking. Developing beautifully, showing delight pencil-lead and tobacco aromas by Oct-03, a “classic” claret. Still great at the GPL vertical in June 2005. A very attractive cedar, pencil lead nose with excellent definition and focus. The palate has a soft entry, smooth and more velvety than other recent vintages. The Merlot really balances this wine out, makes it a more lush and sensuous GPL than normal. A great drinking 1997.
