Description

Mr Whirly says:

” Pure treacle in a bottle. This wine was picked at 60 brics of sugar which is outrageous. This wine is perfect with a rich stick toffee pudding. Unusual too since Tocai Fruilano is a rare word nowadays for wine from Europe, since the banning of the words on labels in Europe by the Hungarians who did not want if confused with their prestigious Tokaji. Give this one a whirl, it rocks.”

Winemakers notes:

” Tocai is a relative of Sauvignon Blanc and the darling grape of Friuli in North East Italy. The grapes for this wine are from Lowell Stone’s Fox hill vineyard here in Mendocino county and were totally affected by the beneficial mold Botrytis cinerea. At harvest, the sugars registered at an unprecedented and amazing 60 brix. After 100% barrel fermentation and ageing for 12 months in French Burgundy barrels, the resulting wine has a residual of 43% by weight, which is balanced by firm acidity.”
