Description

Mr Whirly says;

” Le Ciliegie” means cherry in Italian. Dolcetto rides second fiddle to its more prestigious brother Nebbiolo, but it should not be discounted in anyway as in anyway inferior. It has a nature and character thats very different and offers quality drinking at a far more sensible price point. Un-oaked and yet develops well in the bottle. 100% Dolcetto, dark cherry and liquorice with a little mint and spice.

My notes on this wine in December 2018 on this website:

“Dolcetto D’Alba, 2016, Manzone, Monforte D’Alba, ( Barolo), Piedmont, Italy: Dolcetto takes a back step to Nebbiolo, rather like the Rossese Bianco, its also been close to extinction due to fashion. It will have its time again though, so let’s Hail this wine and grape and enjoy. Soft notes, well expressed and elegant. “
